Lucky 13: Musicals!

List 13 will explore musicals! There are a surprising number of musicals covering a surprising range. The list follows a sort of historical approach, but the concentration is on type more than a strict chronology.

3. The happy ending musical with love songs: Sound of Music plus My Fair Lady plus South Pacific In Concert (with Reba McEntire)

4. The Streisand musical: Funny Girl plus Funny Lady

5. The rock musical: Rocky Horror Picture Show plus Rent

6. The fantasy musical with live actors: Bedknobs & Broomsticks plus Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
7. The musical with Muppets: Muppet Movies (1979 and 2011)
8. The Disney animated musical: Beauty & the Beast plus Little Mermaid 
9. The recycled musical: Moulin Rouge plus Across the Universe

10. The Webber musical: Phantom of the Opera plus Evita

11. The Sondheim musical: Into the Woods plus A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
12. The TV musical: High School Musical plus Once More With Feeling (The Buffy Musical)

For each category, at least one musical will be reviewed; the others will be lightly analyzed/referenced. We will begin January 26, 2013.
