Hey, guys!
So, I should have posted this on Monday!
Firefly is another canceled Joss Whedon show. It is available on DVD. The "pilot" (the definition of pilot is currently up for debate, hence the quotation marks), "Serenity," was actually the last aired episode of the series (a special "Origin movie event!"). But it was intended as the kick off of the series.
I mention this because there are actually TWO Firefly-related 2-hour movies called Serenity. The first is the two hour "Pilot" mentioned above. The second is a theatrically released movie based on and continuing the series. We are focusing on the former. Here are some (legal) ideas on watching "Serenity" online:
iTunes-Currently, iTunes has the series online for purchase and download. "Serenity" is currently available as a full 2 hour episode for $1.99
Amazon- The episodes are also available for purchase here for online viewing or download. Also $1.99.
Netflix: Watch Instantly- The series is currently available to watch instantly on the Netflix website. Alternately, you can also just request the disc. If you have a current generation game console (PS3, Xbox 360, or a Wii), you can watch movies instantly as long as you have a Netflix account. This may require going online and adding it to your "instant" queue manually.
Hulu- You CAN NOT, I repeat, CAN NOT currently watch the "Serenity" pilot on Hulu. While it has most certainly been there in the past, currently Hulu is hosting 5 episodes at a time, and Serenity is not one of them. They do rotate every week, and as such should be there in July.
